During the Sheffield Festival of Science and Engineering, 16-26th March 2015, an interactive exhibition visited four areas of the city:
- The Hub, Shiregreen
- SOAR works, Parson Cross
- Whitewillows, Jordanthorpe
- The University of Sheffield Medical School.
The exhibit hoped to demonstrate the relationship between Art and Science, with the use of eight specially designed pieces of art, each inspired by different aspects of medical research. There were also a series of workshops and talks that were given by academics who helped to inspire these creations.
April, Chloe and Emily helped to host the Host-Pathogen Interaction artwork at each of the destinations, discussing the concepts and nature of our research to the public. This was a great opportunity to engage the public in what we do, chatting to children, families and the elderly about scientific concepts and ideas, not only concerning infection studies, but also topics such as mental health and bone composition!
You can also visit the Reconnect blog for more info and photos of the artwork - have a look at the Jordanthorpe entry to see Emily's tweet get a mention too!
