Background
I graduated from the University of Sheffield in July 2019 with an undergraduate degree in Medical Biochemistry. My third year research project was conducted in the Mesnage lab, investigating the cell surface polysaccharide EPA from Enterococcus faecalis, and the role it plays in conferring resistance to innate immune effectors. I decided on returning to the department to study for a Master’s in Antimicrobial Resistance and have chosen an extended project based in the Dental School. This will involve the characterization of clinically-isolated lytic bacteriophage that target AMR strains of S. aureus, through techniques such as nanopore sequencing and transmission electron microscopy. |
