Project Title:

Background
I completed my undergraduate degree in BSc Human Biology in 2019, and I am now a current MSc Antimicrobial Student at the University of Sheffield. My undergraduate project involved determining the antimicrobial effects of Curcumin against strains of Staphylococcus aureus, this involved using antibiotic susceptibility testing using a disc-diffusion method and 96 well plates of microdilutions of Gentamycin Sulphate. My current project at the University of Sheffield is to determine the characterisation of anti-bacterial effectors secreted by the type VI secretion system.

With a previous educational history in adult nursing, I aim to merge my knowledge from two subjects to increase my understanding of multi-disciplinary working and to aid in my own personal development of skills and knowledge.

During my studies at Teesside, I became a founding member of the Human Biology Society which hosted many charity events to raise funding for two charity organisations and aided in the organisation and management of the ‘Life Science: Past, Present and Future Conference of 2019’.
I aim to have a career within pathology to gain a better understanding on various diseases, and to utilise both medical and scientific knowledge that I have gained so far.
