Background
I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a first-class degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology in the summer of 2019. The final year of my undergraduate degree included an extended research project concerning the delivery of science in primary schools, and a literature review entitled ‘The current understanding of antigenic variation in Trypanosoma brucei’. My summer placement during my undergraduate degree in the Change Department of a UK bank sparked my interest in policy development and implementation. I continued my studies in Sheffield and undertook a masters degree in Antimicrobial Resistance, in collaboration with The Florey Institute, graduating with a distinction. During my masters I completed a research project, under the supervision of Dr Dave Partridge, concerning the prediction of clinical outcomes of diabetic foot infections based on deep ulcer swab cultures. Throughout my degree I also completed modules on the subjects of global health policy and science communication, these modules greatly influenced my future career aspirations. I have a deep interest in epidemiology, health policy and public engagement with science. Therefore, I am looking forward to discovering career opportunities in these fields. |
